IT IS TIME!  THE GAME OF THE YEAR IS ON TONIGHT!

Tonight at 6 p.m. PST the Lakers will be playing the game of their life as Kobe is expected to have his best game tonight coming off a disappointing loss in game 5.

“The Dude” is also putting his reputation on the line by making some very specific predictions for tonight’s game and I guarantee that NO ONE else would predict it as I will.

Tonight’s current line from vegasinsider.com at the Las Vegas Hilton at 6:31 a.m. PST is 6 1/2 points and the over/under is 188.5.  The trends are showing that 68% of the people betting are taking the Celtics to win straight out, with 32% taking the Lakers.  With the extra 6 1/2 points, the trends are showing that 73% of the people would take the Celtics over the Lakers, meaning Lakers could win by 6, but Boston would cover the spread of 6 1/2 to win the bet.

“The Dude” says the Lakers will win by 14 and the final score will be Lakers 114, Boston 100, a very bold prediction I must say.  Kobe will score 45 points with 18 of those points coming from the free throw line.  Gasol will score 16 points, Bynum 12, Artest 12 and Big Game Fish with 15 points along with 14 points coming off the bench.

I am going against the trends and taking the Lakers to win by 14 points and over 188.5, my reputation counts on it!

This is how I bet for maximum profit.  Let’s say you only have 100 bucks to bet with (for some people that is even too much).  Here’s what I would do!

Take 20 dollars on the Lakers to win by 3 1/2 in the first half and over 94 1/2 total points.  This will win you 52 dollars plus you get your 20 dollars back.  You win, you now have 72 dollars in your pocket.  You lose, you lose 20 bucks.

Bet 55 dollars on the entire game over 188.5.  This will pay you 50 bucks, already ahead 5 dollars, with 50 winner and your 55 initial bet back.  But you didn’t go all the way there to win $5, you want to win BIG!

Bet 20 dollars on the second half of the game on the Lakers and over as well. This will win you another 52, plus your 20 back.

At the end of the game, you will have 72 dollars from bet #1, 105 dollars from bet #2, and 72 dollars from bet #3, giving you a grand total of 249 dollars, a profit of 149 dollars.  If you lose the first and the third bet, you still go home a 5 dollar winner with the 2nd bet.

If you want to just make it easy, put 110 dollars on the over of the entire game and you will win 100, with the regular -110 odds.  The 2 way bets I mentioned pay 2 1/2 to 1 because they are much more difficult to hit so 20 pays you 52 on a 2 way bet.

Here is the logic, i’m sure you are wondering what it may be:  First, the Lakers just DO NOT lose 3 Finals Playoffs Games in a row and get beat at home.  It just doesn’t happen!  If you heard Phil Jackson in the huddle last game, he said about the Celtics and I quote “this team loses more games in the fourth quarter than any team in the league. They know how to lose games and they’re showing us that now.”  Then the Celtics exploded in Boston to crush the Lakers in the final few minutes of the game.

This will not happen tonight!  The Lakers are ready to play!  Kobe has his game face on and the team is ready!

Secondly, the total points have went “under” the past 3 games.  This game has everything riding on the line for the Lakers, the trophy, the entire season, they will be playing “full out” tonight and Boston will attempt to keep up with them and will do very well, but will not succeed!  The over is totally guaranteed to happen tonight, and the trends state that 80% of the betting public agree.  If you only make one bet, this is the one, over 188.5 points easily!

If you disagree with me and go with the Celtics, you would be going with 73% of the betting public, but remember, I am 5 for 5 for this entire series on both the spread and the over/under and my gut tells me Lakers will steamroll the Celtics tonight!

If you’re really a betting man, put the whole 100 on the Lakers -6 1/2 and over 188.5 and the payout is 260, plus your 100 back, 360 total, woo hoo!  Do you have the guts to do that?  I probably wouldn’t but that’s just me, I don’t like to “gamble”, I like to play safely to lessen the risks and have a “fun” night watching the Lakers, not biting all my fingernails off into the quick and having a heart attack.

The Dude Rocks

Well, first off, I never thought that I, “The Dude” would be the one talking about getting healthy and back into shape, but thanks to a few recent incidents which put me in the hospital a few times, I have gained a ton of insight from both doctors and fitness experts alike and I would love to share these tips with my friends and fans so you won’t end up in the hospital with kidney stones and other ailments like I did.

I also welcome all your feedback and suggestions as well as there are many of you out there that are experts in the field of food and dieting but let me give you some tips to what I have learned through the pain i’ve endured.

1. The Main One – Drink lots of WATER!  I know you’ve heard this before, but this is a MUST!  If you don’t heed any of the other steps, just follow this one and you’ll feel great and will most likely avoid getting kidney stones.  I have asked others who have had them and women have told me that it is worse than child birth and I will agree that it totally feels like you are dying!  I was screaming throughout the day in the emergency room so please drink LOTS of WATER!
2. Eat Fruit and Vegetables – You know what they say about an apple a day….well, try an apple, a banana and an orange and any other fruit you like, it can only make your body healthier and make you look awesome.  From a fitness expert, I have been told to eat lots of greens, because it contains alkaline and is good for your body.  Some types of excellent greens for a healthy body are: Broccoli (excellent!!), Kale, Romaine lettuce, Bok choy, Zucchini, Collard greens, Brussel Sprouts, Turnip greens, Spinach, Asparagus, Celery, Cucumbers, Cabbage, Artichoke, Okra, Kiwi, Honeydew Melon, Lime, Green bell peppers, Green Beans, Peas and many more.
3. Exercise – It doesn’t matter what kind of exercise, just do it (as Nike says).  Start slow, like I did today, with a walk up the street.  It doesn’t have to be a long walk, just give it a try and in a couple days, pick it up and try a little jog or some mild weights or even a swim.  You’ll be signing up for a membership in a gym in no time, but remember, a gym is not necessary if it’s not in your budget, just stay off of the couch and away from the remote control!
4. Eat Smaller Portions – If you still go for the steak, instead of chicken or fish which is much healthier, don’t eat a whole 1 pounder, cut it down and share it with your family.  Add more vegetables to your plate, excluding the large portion of potatoes, which can bulk you up and avoid sodas or anything with caffeine with your meal if possible.  This would be a great time for a large glass of water with your meal….and one other note, don’t eat after 7 p.m. if possible.  Give yourself at least 4 hours before bedtime to eat a large meal.
5. Drink 100% Fruit Juices – Read the labels on your juices and make sure that they are 100% Fruit Juices with no sugar or additives.  The Doctor insisted that I drink Cranberry Juice.  I have found that Cranberry Juice Cocktail is not 100% Cranberry Juice and actually tastes awful compared to real 100% Cranberry Juice and there are many different blends of Cranberry such as Cran-Apple and Cran-Grape which may appeal more to your tastebuds.  However, any juices which contain 100% Fruit Juices are all great for a healthy body.
6. Have FUN!  Enjoy yourself and have fun!  Go to the beach, hiking, skiing, mountain climbing and enjoy the many adventures you will be able to do with a healthy diet!

Today, “The Dude” is predicting a Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker win along with a Phil Mickelson and Sean O’ Hair win as well.  The line on betus.com is -260 on the Tiger Woods group and -130 on the Phil Mickelson group but if you parlay them both together like I did, I will be winning 65 for my 45 dollar bet, which isn’t bad!

Some other notables I would consider as well would be the team of Justin Leonard and Jim Furyk, two more awesome U.S. professionals playing together today.

Are you tired of “beating the pros” on shows like Inside The NFL and websites that ask you to choose which team will win the game?  Who cares who will win the game when the Giants are 9 1/2 point favorites over Kansas City, of course the Giants will win the game….but who will cover the spread is what everyone REALLY wants to know.

When I go to Las Vegas or Tijuana, the point spread is the only way you can bet unless you take the over/under total points in a game.  Last week, I went 7 and 7 on the over/under total points which is not good at all, so I will give you the teams I think will win versus the point spread and i’ll list what I think the over/unders will be but please don’t take my word for it on the over/under bets.

My picks are indicated by the and under or and over, listed below.  For example, the over/under odds for the first game below is 36 points and the point spread is New York -1.  I have chosen Tennessee +1 and total points under 36 (which lost both ways).  Home teams are always on the bottom. This is by the current Las Vegas point spread courtesy of vegasinsider.com.

For today’s morning games – 1:00 pm EST, my record was 6 wins and 3 losses betting on the team, and 5 wins and 4 losses on the total points over or under betting….not bad, but not that great!  My afternoon team picks so far are 3 wins and 2 losses vs. the spread and 2 wins and 3 losses on the total points over or under betting, not good at all when trying to make a buck!

So far for the day, I have 9 wins and 5 losses picking the team vs. the spread and 7 wins and 7 losses on the total points over and under betting.  This tells me that my stronger choices are picking the team and should give up betting the total points, because every bet you make in Vegas and/or online, you actually lose 10% extra when you lose a bet…for instance, when you place a bet, it costs you $110 to win $100, so when you win you get back $210, but when you lose, you lose $110.  In short, when you win you win $100, when you lose, you lose $110!  Vegas just has to get that extra 10% out of you when you lose, too sad….in the end, Vegas always wins, remember that when you’re gambling!
